Community Invited To Police Memorial Ceremony Monday

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) will be holding its police memorial ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, May 16 at 2500 Trinity Dr. in the north Justice Center Parking Lot.

LAPD has not held this event in two years due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

If Los Alamos were to enter the “Go” status due to the Cerro Pelado Fire or should any other safety concerns arise, this event will be canceled.

This event is open to the Community and will honor fallen law enforcement officers as a part of National Police Week.

LAPD will be raising funds for Special Olympics at this event and officers tentatively plan to run the Law Enforcement Torch Run May 19 to Buffalo Thunder Casino to meet other Law Enforcement Agencies.

LAPD will briefly meet with officers and athletes at 8 a.m., May 19 at the police department.

This Law Enforcement Torch Run is still tentative due to the Cerro Pelado Fire and may be postponed should safety considerations arise.

National Police Week occurs on the calendar week in which May 15 falls. National Police Week was proclaimed by President Kennedy in 1962 to pay recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
