Shark’s teeth in NM? Really! Local geologist Patrick Rowe, of the Los Alamos Geological Society, will lead a group to the aptly-named area near Cabezon, NM. At this site, trip participants will likely find 5 different species of cretaceous age shark’s teeth. Definitely consider bringing the family – you can’t help but find samples, making this is an excellent field trip for kids!

Coyotes are persistent survivors of human persecution and habitat modifications. They are extremely adaptable and have learned to live in human-dominated landscapes. Conflicts can be managed through changes to both human and coyote behaviors. David Parsons, a representative of Project Coyote, will discuss issues related to coyotes living in urban environments, methods for reducing coyote-human conflicts and suggestions for addressing situations that may be deemed as threatening.

Bandelier is leading an effort to try to develop a 25 mile (or so) paved bike loop around Los Alamos.  It would be great if we could get representatives of the community recreational user groups in from the ground floor.
