Wood is the author of O’Keeffe Stories. Georgia O’Keeffe is one of the world’s most well-known and beloved artists. In 1977, Margaret Wood  began a five-year stay as companion and caretaker to then eighty-nine year old Georgia O’Keeffe.

Halloweekend – Trick or Treat on Main Street 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26
A great weekend of activities from many great businesses and organizations. Activities to include Trick or Treat on MainStreet, YMCA costume climb, High-tech Halloween at the Bradbury Science Museum, Arts Council Scarecrow contest, Pumpkin Glow, haunted houses, and Ruby K’s Fun Run – Saturday (why not wear a costume!)

Fuller Lodge Art Center will stay open for the annual Los Alamos Trick or Treat on Mainstreet from 4-6 p.m. on Friday. The Art Center is a great place to shop during the event. Many Halloween themed items, and you can watch director Ken Nebel rise out of a coffin to deliver treats.

The Halloweekend festivities continue Saturday, Oct. 27 starting off with Ruby K’s Yum Run at 8 a.m., then a community Pumpkin Carving at Fuller Lodge 10 a.m. to noon.

Pumpkins will be displayed at the Pumpkin Glow at Fuller Lodge on the lawn. Go inside Fuller Lodge to hear The Nomad’s play 6-9 p.m.

Sixth Annual Los Alamos Hallowiener Parade 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Arrive in costume and meet on the north side of Ashley Pond.
The parade starts around 6 p.m., and ends across from CB FOX for the costume contest.

YMCA Costume Climb 5:30 – 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26
Wear a costume and climb the rock wall for free!

Hilltopper Varsity Football @ Espanola Valley High School  7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26

Olions Perform Musical Comedy Murders of 1940’s   8 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast  7 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27
No Tricks, Just Treats-The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos will hold its annual fall Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice, and milk. Two witches will fly through the dining room between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., distributing wrapped candy to the children. Tickets cost $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, and $5 for children.

(Un)Natural Wonders of Los Alamos: Beanfield Mesa 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27
Join Dorothy Hoard for historical hike of Beanfield Mesa. This is a moderate hike, but some stretches are very rocky, though not particularly steep. Some parts of the route have no trail. Meet at PEEC at 9:10 a.m. or at the trailhead at 9:30 a.m.

Pumpkin Splash & Halloween Carnival 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 @ Walkup Aquatic Center
Diving for pumpkins, carnival games, and several additional fun activities. A fun family event that includes catching a bobbing pumpkin in the Main Pool, decorating it in the Training Room, and playing fun Halloween carnival games on the patio. Pumpkins are only in the water for a limited time: 11 to 11:20 a.m. Limit: 150 participants

Masquerade Recital 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 27 in Fuller Lodge
As part of the “Halloweekend”  the student Masquerade Recital will be held  just before the Pumpkin Glow in Fuller Lodge. Costumed music students will play some eerie selections.
