Chick Keller Presents Talk on Climate Control Wednesday

SIERRA CLUB News:

The Sierra Club will present a talk by Chick Keller titled “Climate Contradictions and Complexities” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 in Room 203, Building 2 at UNM-Los Alamos.

It has been well established that human emission of greenhouse gases is warming the world. In the past few years, however, there has been quite a bit of work on trying to tie down just how much warming is to be expected.

In addition, there has grown up quite a literature discussing the seeming lack of global warming over the past 12 years or so.

Finally, an increasing number of studies have been trying to determine whether or not recent weather extremes—floods, hurricanes, droughts, extremes of warm or cold, etc.—can be attributed to the observed warming.

This talk will attempt to update the club on where the science is in all these important aspects to better assess actions for concerned citizens to deal with.

The public is invited to attend the meeting.
