CHI St. Joseph’s Children News:
ALBUQUERQUE — The staff at CHI St. Joseph’s Children ‘are overjoyed’ with the passage of Constitutional Amendment #1.
This historic event promises to deliver high-quality early childhood programs, preventing adverse childhood experiences, which have been keeping the children of New Mexico from reaching their full potential.
Voters have embraced the evidence that high-quality programs are part of the solution to changing children’s outcomes and to creating a path to a brighter future. The passage of Constitutional Amendment #1 is foundational to the dedicated effort to fully fund our current programs and to replicating successful programs.
CHI St. Joseph’s Children renews their commitment to advocate for quality and culturally sustaining services. As part of this commitment, they offer their International Home Visiting Study Tour. They are ready to assist, as they have in the past, by offering scholarships so they can continue to journey with other organizations providing home visiting. CHI St. Joseph’s Children wants to share what they have learned about best practices, and they are ‘eager’ to support replication.
CHI St. Joseph’s Children continues to commit their Trust to services which advocate for the children of New Mexico, and they continue to be self-funded and have no intention of changing their policy of not accepting government money.
With the passage of Constitutional Amendment #1, there is a call to responsibility. In the following months, CHI St. Joseph’s Children will be calling for participation in a new coalition to advocate for high-quality programs for the state’s children. They will invite private and non-profit organizations, individuals and communities to join them as they advocate for quality and accountability.
“The same earnestness that was committed to placing the Constitutional Amendment on the ballot will continue to exist as we continue to build world-class early childhood programs for and with New Mexico families.” –CHI St. Joseph’s Children
