Chef Laura Hamilton Joins Staff At Rosebud Café

Just in time for spring, the Rosebud Café in White Rock is making changes.

The café’s menu continues to feature organic, raw, whole grain, sugar free and gluten free foods, but since the arrival of Chef Laura Hamilton two weeks ago, the menu has been revised.

“The food is mostly organic and all natural, but it’s also really delicious homemade food,” Hamilton said.

In addition to breakfast fare like waffles, muffins and bagels with lox, the café serves quiche of the day all day long, and of course breakfast burritos. The menu is all natural, but includes meat in some dishes.

On the lunch menu, the Farmer’s Market Panini, made with seasonal vegetables, pesto and mozzarella and served on focaccia is a stand out. Sandwiches, empanadas, soup and salad round out the menu.

The house ice tea, a blueberry blend, is a must try. In addition to tea, espresso drinks, smoothies, fresh juices and other beverages are served—not to mention out of this world sweets.

Owner Lana Crochet opened the Rosebud March 21, 2014 at 35 Rover, Blvd., Suite G.

“Laura has been the missing piece of our puzzle,” Crochet said.

The two have known each other for six years and have collaborated for some time on the Rosebud’s popular wine dinners, featuring a seven course meal fit for a king.

“This has been one of the greatest challenges of my career, making the food as delicious as it is healthy,” Hamilton said.

The price for the wine dinner is $75 per person. The wine dinners are popular with the local wine crowd, Crochet said. Dinners happen once or twice a month on Sunday evenings. This month the dinner is at 7 p.m. May 16. Reservations can be made on Rosebud’s website http://rosebudwhiterock.com/ or by calling the café’ at 505.603.7912.  The menu is available on the website. High tea also is served on request.

Rosebud is equipped with WiFi and patrons are encouraged to hang out and enjoy the space. The café also does catering.

In addition to providing healthy fare, Crochet wanted the café to be a child friendly space, where children could play while their parents chat and enjoy a snack. The café has a sectioned-off play area equipped with toys where toddlers can frolic.

“We want the community to know there’s a place in White Rock to hang out, and we’re family friendly!” Hamilton said.

Stop by the Rosebud Café and try the new menu. The café is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
