Chamisa Teacher Susan Hettinga Awarded First-Ever John And Helen Benson Environmental Educator Award

 

Los Alamos resident Jody Benson, left, presents Chamisa Elementary School Teacher Susan Hettinga with the first-ever John and Helen Benson Environmental Educator Award during an awards ceremony Monday at Chamisa. Hettinga leads the school’s Green Team, which has garnered several honors in the past including the Los Alamos County’s Business Recycler of the Year award in 2017, the Innovative Project of the Year from the regional chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America in 2018 and was one of the top point getters in 2019 Los Alamos County Eco Challenge.
