Chamber Seminar Details New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is hosting an educational seminar for business owners regarding important information about the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, 3-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 in the Central Park Square Meeting Room, 130 Central Park Square.

Los Alamos Chamber is proud to be hosting this event in partnership with the Association of Commerce and Industry and the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange (NMHIX), Chamber Manager Katy Korkos said. The goal is to outreach and educate all New Mexico residents on the new options available for healthcare coverage.

This seminar will be an open forum where those attending can ask questions, understand their options and learn about additional tools and resources to help them with the new affordable coverage options.

New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange was created to provide small businesses and individuals the ability to compare and purchase affordable health care plans. Individuals and small businesses will be able to purchase competitively priced health insurance plans from a wide variety of options.

The exchange provides the option to compare plans based on price, benefits, quality and other important features. All plans will include a core set of benefits including doctor’s visits, prescriptions, hospitalizations, lab and x-ray tests, pregnancy services, and emergency services.

Enrollment starts Oct. 1, 2013 with coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2014. Insurance providers with include Blue Cross Blue Shield, Lovelace, Molina, New Mexico Health Connections, and Presbyterian.
