Chalk Muralist Jennifer Leon Gets Into The Halloween Spirit

Chalk artist Jennifer Leon works on her annual Halloween chalk mural at 4949 Trinity Dr. ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ is this year’s subject. Leon said she started on the project about two weeks ago and is striving to finish in time for Halloween. Once the mural is finished, she will set up black lights so trick-or-treaters can view the art at night. Leon said she has been doing Halloween murals at the residence for nine years. The house belongs to a friend of hers whose favorite holiday is Halloween, as a result he asked her to do a mural in the spirit of Halloween. At first, she drew traditional images for the holiday but then moved on to more whimsical images like ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘James and the Giant Peach’. The murals seem to be a big hit every year, Leon said, adding that along trick-or-treaters, many neighbors like to check it out. ‘They always look forward to what we are going to do every year,’ she said.
