Los Alamos Medical Center News:
At Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC), we are blessed to have so many fantastic team members who are committed to our mission of making communities healthier and who live our core values each and every day.
The following is the third in a Q&A series highlighting several dedicated LAMC employees who have served our communities for decades. Next in our series is Charlene Padilla, Office Manager at Española Family Care, who has worked at our Española primary care clinic for 31 years.
Question: Can you tell us a little bit about your first role when you first started at Los Alamos Medical Center? What positions have you held since then?
Answer: I have been working at the Espanola Family Care Clinic since I first started in 1992. I started as the receptionist/transcriptionist, I then went into medical records, followed by billing for many years. I then became the office manager/biller, again, for many years. Then just officer manager/lead, which I still am today.
Q: What is your favorite part of working at LAMC?
A: I enjoy working with all the staff and our patients. I’ve been with most of the same patients since 1992, so they know me very well.
Q: Over all these years serving our community and working with so many people, what stands out to you the most?
A: Working with great providers. We have so many caring and wonderful providers serving our community.
Q: Our hospital was recently named a Lifepoint Health National Quality Leader. How do you play a role in delivering safe and quality care to our community?
A: Working with LAMC as long as I have, they have taught me a great deal and are always teaching us new things on how we can improve all the time. We get a lot of education throughout the year.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work? Are you involved in any community organizations?
A: I enjoy reading, going to Disneyland as often as possible, love traveling with my family, and spending time with family and my dogs.
Q: What would you tell someone who is potentially interested in working at LAMC?
A: It’s a great place to work. You will learn so much about the medical field!
