Celebrate Giving Tuesday Today

PEEC News:

Right in the middle of all the holiday shopping, just after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, falls a special day, and that day is today. Traditionally the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving is recognized as GivingTuesday around the world.

GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back, when people around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Here in Los Alamos, there are many opportunities to make a difference to a non-profit on GivingTuesday. No matter what your interests, or how much or little you can give, please consider making a donation to a local organization today. You can bet that you will make a big difference to their cause by doing so.

Those who appreciate nature may wish to make a donation to the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), a non-profit organization that has been enriching people’s lives since 2000, by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains and skies. Just in the first nine months of this year alone, PEEC has served nearly 14,000 people in Los Alamos and the surrounding communities through school, public and outreach programs, center visits, and special events.

A donation today through PEEC’s Annual Drive not only helps the organization with daily operations of the nature center and its programs, but two generous donors will match those donations with ones of equal value to PEEC’s Take Wing campaign, to provide professional exhibits for the new Los Alamos Nature Center, opening in the spring. It’s possible to donate online (http://www.pajaritoeec.org/welcome/donate.php) or by mailing a check to PEEC at P.O. Box 547, Los Alamos, NM 87544.

Whatever you do, please remember the spirit of giving during the holiday season, and give to an organization of your choice on this GivingTuesday.

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies. PEEC maintains a nature center, holds regular programs and events, and hosts a number of interest groups from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and merchandise. Annual memberships start at $20.
