Celebrate ‘2018 Spring Festival Of The Arts’

ESPANOLA — Moving Arts Española (MAE) announces the second event in its ‘Moving Hearts’ 10th Anniversary Performance Series – the 2018 Spring Festival of the Arts.
More than 150 young actors, circus artists, dancers, gymnasts, musicians and visual artists ages 3-18 will showcase their talents over three weekend performances in MAE’s beautiful, state-of-the art Moving Arts Performance Center, located on the pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh just north of the Ohkay Casino and Conference Center.

  • Tickets: By donation, general admission. Open to the community
Moving Hearts 2018 Spring Festival of the Arts – Beginning Student Showcase
  • When: 4-6 p.m. Saturday, April 28 and 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 29
  • Where: Moving Arts Performance Center, 368 Eagle Dr., Ohkay Owingeh
  • Tickets: $6 General Admission. On sale at MAE beginning April 23
Moving Hearts presents “Alicia in the Wonderland of Enchantment”
  • When: 5-7:30 p.m. Friday May 4; 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday May 5; 2-5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6
    • A special VIP Reception on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. will feature handmade tamales and other refreshments.
  • Where: Moving Arts Performance Center, 368 Eagle Dr., Ohkay Owingeh
  • Tickets: $8 General. $15 VIP Reserved with Reception (Saturday only). On sale at MAE beginning April 23.
A must-see theatrical take on Lewis Carrol’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with a New Mexican twist! Fall down the rabbit hole on a whimsical journey filled with magic, music and dance as Moving Arts Espanola’s students come together to discover talking animals, dancing flowers, a trickster cat, and murderous queens. Join familiar faces and meet new characters as we witness the caucus race, ride on a river of tears, attend a mad tea party quincenañera, and play a wacky game of croquet.
Organization Background & Mission
Moving Arts Española initiated an arts and fitness education program in 2008 through Española Valley Public Schools. Now in its 10th year of service, the nonprofit organization has served more than 5000 children and youth over the last decade, with offerings during the school day, after school, and over the summer. More than 450 students ages 3-18 participate each week; offerings have grown to include 29 unique classes in the performing and visual arts and fitness education, free farm-to-table meals featuring locally sourced produce, and free academic mentoring. The organization’s mission- “Building Community Through Arts and Culture” – is evidenced by its ability to build long-standing local and regional partnerships across multiple sectors in support of children, youth and families. Moving Arts Española was voted 2017 Nonprofit Organization of the Year by the Española Valley Chamber of Commerce.
