This Christmas 1979 photo commentates the Fox Family’s first Holiday Season as the then new owners of what was later to be renamed CB FOX, but which on that Noel still bore the predecessor’s name as it appears on the sign, Clement & Benner.
The CB FOX building was originally built by the AEC in the early 1950’s to house a movie theater, and to either side of the movie house were a beauty salon, barber shop, florist and a combination Western Union office/photography business.
The display window area in the photo was the theater’s marquee, and has been home to CB FOX’s chocolates, candies and gifts area just inside the front entryway, but still under the very same marquee ceiling.
The store is now just over 23,000 square feet. It was just under 13,000 square feet when CB FOX acquired the entire building in 1989.
The first movie shown here? Winchester 73, starring Jimmy Stewart.
