LANL News:
Mosquitoes, mo’ problems … when it comes to pesky pests, mathematician Carrie Manore might be the most understanding person. While most of us simply swat ‘em and spray ‘em, Manore gives deeper consideration to mosquitoes.
She examines the bloodsuckers’ behavioral data to understand biosecurity patterns and climate change hazards.
Come to another installment of the Periodic Table at the Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op and discuss with Manore how she models complex systems to investigate infectious disease spread, if mosquitoes have any redeeming qualities, and the correct way to pronounce “chikungunya”.
The talk is 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, June 20 in Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op at 163 Central Park Square.
