Test your mettle and earn some awesome medals at the 1st annual “Pajarito Trail Fest” Youth Mountain Bike (MTB) Race Saturday, Oct. 23.

Registration closes at 9:45 a.m. Saturday and is free to all youth cyclist 18 and under. The cross-country style MTB race will start promptly at 10 a.m. from the lower parking lot at Pajarito mountain.

The “Pajarito Trail Fest” Youth MTB Race is brought to you by the Southwest Nordic Ski Club, Los Alamos Youth Mountain Bike Team and Pajarito Mountain. These three organizations share the same network of trails keeping our trails bustling with activity regardless of season.

The mass start rolls off the start line promptly at 10 a.m. Saturday. The racecourse will provide youth athletes, depending on age and ability, up to 9 miles of premier Jemez singletrack and doubletrack trails to enjoy along with their friends. This the last opportunity for youth cyclists to participate in a grassroots local MTB event for the season.

Special thanks to High Mesa Dental Arts for providing the financial support to allow this event to be offered free to all competitors.

You are invited to join in on the fun this Saturday and learn more about youth cycling in our community. Representatives from the Los Alamos Youth Bike Team will be on hand to answer questions about joining the bike team. If you are feeling reluctant to participate on Saturday, perhaps knowing that all competitors will earn an amazing goodie bag of swag will convince you to participate.
