Mi Casita Restaurant Closing Down Friday

Owner Oscar Duran told the Los Alamos Daily Post today that he will close down his restaurant, Mi Casita, in the VFW building on Trinity Drive at 2 p.m. Friday after serving the final lunch. “We gave it a good run but our business dried up in the spring after the Lab began laying off its contractors … they were our main business,” he said. Duran opened Mi Casita 2.5 years ago and said that initially his customers packed the restaurant and spilled over into another room in the building. Katy Korkos Gets Pierced

Throwing caution to the wind, Member Services Coordinator Katy Korkos of the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce surprised one of her business members Monday as she entered their business and asked to be pierced. Korkos hadn’t had her ears pierced as a child but after receiving a pair of MJ Oref designed earrings Monday, made the decision to get it done. She headed straight to Bennett’s Fine Jewelry, 107 Central Park Square. Within minutes, Korkos walked out sporting pierced studs, which she will keep in her ears for six weeks to allow the new piercings to heal over. Ear piercing is one of

CB FOX Opens Temporary Mattress Store Downtown

Dave Fox of CB FOX welcomes customers into his new mattress store Saturday. The store has opened temporarily in the space recently vacated by the flower shop adjacent to the CB FOX Department store on Central Avenue. The mattress store is designed to accommodate customers who have trouble using the stairs in the department store as well as allow more space for the large variety of mattress available at CB FOX. Facebook Reportedly Has Millions of Fake Accounts

Facebook has said it believes there are now more than 83 million illegitimate accounts on the social network.

In company filings published this week, it said 8.7 percent of its 955 million active accounts broke its rules.

Duplicate profiles – belonging to already registered users – made up 4.8 percent of its membership figure.

User-misclassified accounts amounted to 2.4 percent – including personal profiles
