Heinrich: Conservation Measures Will Grow New Mexico Outdoor Rec Economy, Improve Access To Public Lands

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced today the passage of several conservation measures that he has championed to expand access to public lands and improve the health and resiliency of New Mexico’s land, water, wildlife, and the communities that depend on them.
The measures were included in the fiscal year 2018 omnibus funding bill, which passed the House and Senate and has been signed into law.

Philbert Lopez Jr., 34, of Espanola is facing an April 27 preliminary hearing on five counts of shoplifting totaling almost $2,500 comprised entirely of bottles of alcohol stolen from Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos and Smith’s in White Rock on five separate occasions in February.
The shoplifting incidents were discovered by Smith’s loss prevention staff while reviewing video surveillance, which showed Lopez placing the bottles in a reusable shopping bag and a grey messenger bag, then leaving the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise.
