Broadway Singer Performs At UNM-LA

MUSIC News:

“That guy has some pipes!” exclaimed a UNM-LA student after Broadway singer Seph Stanek sang two songs Tuesday at the College Concert at UNM-LA.

Stanek is touring with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players who performed “The Pirates of Penzance” at Popejoy Hall this past weekend. He stopped in Los Alamos for a couple of days to visit his cousin Diana Martinez of the Family YMCA.

While in Los Alamos, Stanek has UNM-LA instructor Juanita Madland accompanying him on piano. Madland invited him to share a couple of songs Tuesday as the finale of her Music Theory Class College Concert. Stanek first sang “My Street” by Malvina Reynolds, then a piece from The Phantom of the Opera.”

Stanek also gave a benefit performance Tuesday evening at the Los Alamos Teen Center.
