The Los Alamos Nature Center celebrates the community with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s annual membership appreciation event, “PEEC-nic”, 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.
This event is open to the public and a great opportunity to learn more about PEEC and membership benefits, enjoy a variety of fun activities and dine on delicious desserts made by PEEC’s board members.
Bring a friend who has never been to the nature center before and receive vouchers for a free planetarium show or 10 percent discount coupons.for the gift shop. In addition to this special offer, visitors can meet PEEC’s live animals, taste fresh apple cider, talk with a birding expert in the wildlife observation room and go on a guided hike at 1:30 p.m. with Jean Dewart
into the canyon.
PEEC members will get a special member magnet while supplies last and can enjoy a free planetarium show. The weekly trail run and yoga session offered at the nature center also is free that morning to PEEC members. The trail run starts at 10:30 a.m. and yoga begins at 11:45 a.m. PEEC-nic also is a great opportunity to join PEEC, and new members will receive one extra month on their annual membership.
PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events, and hosts a number of interest groups from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however, members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and merchandise. Annual memberships start at $35.
