DPU News:
A brief power outage occurred Wednesday afternoon affecting 963 Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ customers in White Rock.
The 10 minute outage began at 1:32 p.m. and was restored by 1:42 p.m. DPU electric linemen were replacing an electric utility pole on Monterey. During the repairs the breaker operated at the White Rock substation causing the outage.
The area affected customers west of Rover Boulevard and extended south into Pajarito Acres. Once power was restored, crews completed the pole replacement.
DPU is committed to enhancing electric reliability in Los Alamos County and has set a goal to be under the 60-minute standard average interruption duration index (SAIDI). This is the amount of time in minutes a customer could expect to be without power as compared to the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) average for this region. DPU’s SAIDI is under 60 minutes and has been for more than a year.
