Staff Report:
The Los Alamos Police Department just announced the following road closures due to the torrential rainstorm plaguing the area:
- N.M. 4 toward Bandelier;
- Truck Route;
- West Road;
- East Jemez; and
- West Jemez.
“N.M. 502 is open but there is debris on the road and while the Main Hill Road is open, there is a danger of falling debris,” Commander Preston Ballew told the Los Alamos Daily Post moments ago.
Also, a citizen reported a boulder, debris and river-like conditions along the hairpin curves heading to the Jemez this morning.
“We urge citizens to stay home if at all possible and to exercize extreme caution if they must go out,” Ballew said. “Emergency and road crews are on the roadways … we ask motorists to watch their speed and be careful so nobody gets injured.”
