Los Alamos Police Detectives are searching for a woman who has been on the lam since Tuesday.

Chamita resident Irene Quintana is wanted on a warrant with two charges: Distribution of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree Felony) and Conspiracy (4th Degree Felony.)

Quintana, 49, is suspected earlier this month of attempting to send controlled substances through the mail into the Los Alamos County Jail

“I want to commend the alert jail staff who were able to ascertain the contraband coming into our Jail,” Det. Sgt. Oliver Morris said. “Our detention staff has a challenging job of not only maintaining order within the jail but to make sure the environment is safe from outside influences while still respecting inmate rights. We also will not fail to investigate anyone who attempts to perform such actions in the future.”

Quintana is 5’4” and approximately 162 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last known driving a black GMC Yukon with tinted windows and 20-inch rims.

Anyone with information regarding her where abouts is urged to contact the Los Alamos Police Department dispatch line at 662-8222. Police are offering a $100 reward to anyone who supplies information that leads to Quintana’s arrest. Callers may remain anonymous.
