The Boys U11 Krypton Lasers won 3-1 against the Clovis White soccer team for their second win in as many matches in the Duke City Soccer League.
The Lasers were under constant pressure in the first half, but good defense and saves by goalie Hayden Watkins kept the game scoreless. In the second half, James Ito intercepted a Clovis throw-in near the half line and his deflected pass found Taelin Stanfield who dribbled towards goal and when confronted by the goalie, provided a clever back pass to Michael Witkowski who then one-timed the ball into the goal.
After Clovis tied the game 1-1, Tyron Pietryga provided a perfectly weighted through-ball between the Clovis backline to a sprinting Stanfield who placed the ball around the goalie into the back of the net. The final goal was initiated with Sammy Brown-Salazar’s throw-in down the side line to Ito, followed by a pass to Stanfield, who then provided a cross that Dhruv Thulasidasan slotted into the back of the net.
Ty Gartz had a strong game on defense, Cam McDonald had some explosive dribbling runs down the side line, while Tyron Pietryga was player-of-the-match with strong defending and excellent ball distribution to his teammates throughout the game.
