‘Birds in Flight’ Soar Above Central Park Square

A ‘Birds in Flight’ sculpture by scrap metal artist Richard Swenson of Los Alamos is recently installed in Central Park Square at the corner of 15th Street and Central Avenue. Central Park Square owner Philip Kunsberg explained that the bodies of the birds are created from discarded Harley Davidson mufflers and the bird’s beaks are made from pliers. ‘This is just another example of Richard’s creativity and ability to take items that others have discarded and make them into a thing of beauty,’ Kunsberg said.
