While I was both fascinated and confused as SALA’s creation and development of Oppenheimer Festival at SALA evolved, now that it is well under way I must say I’m amazed at what they have done.
I doubt I can imagine the time and effort (owner) Allan Saenz and staff and volunteers must have expended while creating and organizing and coordinating the event. This included obtaining support of all kinds from many other groups in town including the Historical Society, Manhattan Project National Historical Park and many others for support in the project.
Some of these groups also put on worthwhile events of their own. Just today I had the thought I’ve been experiencing a Los Alamos version of Sundance, including so many events to choose from that you have to miss some.
SALA did the Oppie Festival right on the heels of their Manhattan Project film series the first half of July. Add that to all the ScienceFest and I’m about 2 months behind doing routine stuff. Oh, there’s a feature movie, too? Well, I do have a ticket for an upcoming showing.
So to SALA: Well Done!!! You’ve proven Los Alamos can be creative in many ways.
