National Park Week 2022, which runs April 16-24, is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, volunteer, and find your park. The theme for National Park Week this year is sPark Connections. Would you like to spark a deeper connection to your national parks? With more than 400 national parks there are opportunities for everyone to spark their discovery and creativity.
The Los Alamos, New Mexico area is the perfect place to find your park and spark exploration during National Park Week 2022. In addition to Bandelier, the area is home to two other NPS sites:
- Valles Caldera National Preserve – explore the rich human history and high-alpine ecosystems found within a large volcanic caldera. Visitors can explore the geologic history of the region, scenic vistas, and watch wildlife.
- Manhattan Project National Historical Park– learn about one of the most transformative events of the 20th century – the development of the world’s first atomic bombs and the complicated legacies associated with the dawn of the nuclear age.
