Following more than two years of planning, a long-needed project to replace the 60-year-old main electrical service line into Frijoles Canyon in Bandelier National Monument is expected to begin Nov. 14, and extend into May of 2017. The work will be Monday through Friday.
Because the project may at various times involve workers on the entrance road, reduced speed limits, and/or lane closures, there may sometimes be traffic delays. In addition, those walking on the Main Loop Trail may sometimes find temporary trail detours. It is not expected that the work will affect visitor parking.
The park staff and contractors thank visitors in advance for their help in following signs and flaggers.
“Everyone coming to Bandelier looks forward to having an enjoyable and safe day in the park,” Superintendent Jason Lott said. “A little patience and extra attention to directions will allow the work to proceed safely for everyone, visitors and workers alike.”
