Backcountry Film Festival At Reel Deal Jan. 26

PEEC News:

The Backcountry Film Festival is returning to the Reel Deal Theater in Los Alamos for the sixth year in a row.

Produced by the Boise, Idaho based nonprofit Winter Wildlands Alliance, the touring Backcountry Film Festival will make its way to more than 100 locations around the world.

The screening is 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Reel Deal Theater. It will be the only screening in New Mexico.

The Backcountry Film Festival is renowned for its mix of professional and grassroots films – from well-known filmmakers who search backcountry corners across the globe to submit their best work, to first-timers who take a video camera out on their weekend excursions. This year’s program features nine short films, aimed to inspire winter adventurers to seek the snow less traveled.

Tickets for the Jan. 26 screening are available starting Jan.12 at the Reel Deal Theater for $12 in advance, or $15 at the door on the day of the show. As in years past, the film festival is expected to sell out, so it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

The Pajarito Brewpub will sell beer and wine before the show and at intermission. Also at intermission, PEEC will have a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses, including CB FOX, Fusion Multisport, Pajarito Mountain, Sirphey, Pasta Paradiso, Smith’s and Pajarito Brewpub, as well as regional and national sponsors like REI. Raffle tickets will be sold before the show.
