BabyNet: New Parent Guide Free Service For Los Alamos

The members of BabyNet, an Advisory Council to the Los Alamos Health Council, are excited to announce that we have created a brand-new resource for pregnant women and new parents in northern New Mexico!

This “New Parent Guide” is a voluntary service that is free to all, and it lists over one hundred pages of resources, organized by categories such as Holistic Healthcare, Medical/Western Healthcare, Maternal and Postnatal Care, Childcare, and Family & Fitness.

The New Parent Guide assists women and new parents by offering information and options with regard to the supports and services that are available to them here in northern New Mexico. Pregnant women and new parents often require highly specialized services, even for things like massage, physical therapy, or yoga. This guide makes it very easy for people to learn about these services and to be able to find them, mostly locally.

Starting a family can involve an enormous lifestyle change, and there are many specialists and professionals available to lend support. Currently, the New Parent Guide can be accessed online for free at: There is a form at the end of the document for general feedback and listing requests.

I would like to offer a special shout out to Karen Brown of Sanguine Journey. Karen, a birth doula, did an enormous amount of voluntary work on this project, providing much of the content and the graphic design. A big thank you also goes out to Carie Fanning of Family Strengths Network, Brittney Vollens of First Born, and Desiree Cassell of The Balanced Momtality Health & Wellness.
