The Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers competed March 1-2 at the Monopoly Meet in Belen, NM hosted by Boardwalk Gymnastics.
Tumblers top gymnasts at the competition were Addy Archuleta and Maddie Vallejo. Addy earned 1st place overall in the silver senior division with an all around score of 35.85. Individual event scores that led to her first place all around were two first place finishes on vault (9.5) and floor (9.0), second place on bar (9.1), and third on beam (8.6). Maddie had a great day scoring first on vault with a 9.05, second on beam with 8.85, and third on bar with 9.0. She placed second in the all around with a 35.70 in the silver children’s division.
Leading the way in Bronze children’s division was Savannah Caizza with gold in the vault (9.3) and in the all around with 36.30. Isla Kaufeld won silver in the all around score of 34.6 including a first place finish on vault (9.2). Competing in the bronze youth division were Maya Ternet and Noelle Garuno, tying for first place in the all around with scores of 36.15. Maya also earned three individual golds: vault (8.75), bars (9.55), and beam (9.1). Noelle earned gold on floor with 9.25. Hanna Valencia competed in the bronze junior division earning silver in the all around with 36.30.
Competing at the silver children’s division with Maddie was Ava Zadina who placed third in the all around with a score of 35.1, including a 8.6 gold medal finish on vault. In the silver junior division was Emery Apperson and Kayla Daley. Emery earned first on floor with a 8.9 and fourth in the all around with 34.25. Kayla earned fifth in the all around with 32.7. The silver senior division also included Tehya Thornton, Lucy Lindsay, Abbie Johnson, and Nina Gyrya. Nina earned gold on beam with a 9.25 and third in the all around with 34.80. Tehya earned fourth in the all around with 34.1 and Lucy earned sixth with 33.0. In the silver senior B division, Abbie Johnson earned fourth place in the all around with a score of 34.80.
Five gymnasts for Los Alamos competed in the gold divisions. In the gold junior division Caroline Erikson had a great meet earning second overall with an all around score of 34.025. Helping her get there were two first places on vault (9.0) and beam (8.25) and a second place floor routine (8.725). Christina Samantzidou earned third in the all around competition with 32.925 and Amelie Vallejo earned fifth overall with 31.225. Teagan Brown won both the vault (9.2) and floor (9.175) in the senior gold division to earn first place in the all around as well with 34.725. Eliana Rodriguez also earned a 9.2 on tied with Teagan on the vault and earned third in the all around with 34.00.
The Atomic Tumblers will be sending twenty gymnasts to compete at the Xcel State Championships March 21-23 at Sandia Prep in Albuquerque.
