ACCT News:
Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), Los Alamos Public Schools’ award winning after-school musical theater program announced their events and shows for the 2018-2019 season.
Family Input Needed
ACCT’s directors will be hosting a family Q & A session from 5:30-6:15 p.m., May 10 in the Barranca Mesa Library. ACCT’s directors will be sharing information about what to expect next year. We would like to invite interested parents and students to our meeting to give their input on how we can improve
our after-school program.
ACCT Summer Workshops
ACCT’s 2018-2019 season will begin in June with the popular ACCT Summer Workshops. The Summer Workshops will be from 9-11 a.m., June 11-15 in the Smith Auditorium at the high school.
ACCT Director Daren Savage said, “This is a great way for students to start their musical theater summer break. We will use material from our 2018-2019 season for the workshops.”
Plans for the 2018-2019 Season
ACCT directors have decided to combine their elementary school and middle school casts (grades 3-8) for their musical show in the spring.
ACCT has planned a fundraising Revue show in November featuring many of the audience’s favorite musical numbers from their past shows.
Auditions for Disney Beauty and the Beast Jr. are tentatively scheduled for Nov. 3, with rehearsals beginning November 13. Public performances of Disney Beauty and the Beast Jr. are scheduled for Feb. 8 & 9, 2019 at Smith Auditorium.
Other Changes
ACCT will again rely on their fundraising efforts to fund their upcoming season. Savage noted, “Last year, we were able to raise enough money to cover the cost of our season and come out a little ahead to give us a small amount to begin this year.”
ACCT is looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Chairman to head up their fundraising efforts to raise the funding needed to present the quality musicals Los Alamos families have come to love.
The 2018-2019 season is ACCT’s 11th year serving Los Alamos area musical theater students. For more volunteer information, or to download the ACCT Summer Workshops registration packet, visit the ACCT website at
