NMDCA News:
Learn more about the world above, in the eyes of Southwestern Indigenous People, at Jemez Historic Site Looking to the Skies program from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., Saturday, July 18.
Learn about past and modern perspectives of astronomy from an Indigenous point of view with Instructional Coordinator Marlon at Jemez Historic Site. The presentation will discuss what Southwestern Indigenous people observed and believed about the world above them and how the worlds above and around them are connected and related. We’ll use special sun viewing telescopes to take a closer look at the sun.
This program is included with admission of $7 for adults and free to children 16 years and younger, Tribal members, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, MNMF members, and FCJHS members.
Looking to the Skies is a great way to learn about the sky during a different time than the usual nighttime view. Light snacks and refreshments will be served during and after the presentation.
