KIWANIS News:

Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School have traditionally hosted Cookies and Conversation. However, on Feb. 9, Aspen Elementary School K-Kids (a Kiwanis group for elementary aged kids) got the chance to host the monthly event.

Participants sat with adult visitors, shared their views in response to questions, and then moved to meet the next person. The adult conversationalists included parents, Kiwanis members and even a representative from Bandelier National Monument.

As always, the session taught intergenerational communication but the conversations were kept light with topics such as: What was your favorite trip? What’s your favorite book or movie?

Bernadette Lauritzen from Assets in Action led the session, and she and Don Casperson, the Kiwanis liaison to K-Kids, brought the cookies. There were three teams, each with 10 kids. Afterwards, the adults said that the session was a great success.
