Los Alamos County Parks Division crews are lowering the water level of Ashley Pond today to start irrigating the turf area.
They will start refilling the pond later this week with fresh water. This process also will remove a large quantity of the muddy water that has been noticeable and should help provide a more clear, natural pond appearance.
With spring weather approaching, there also are plans to reintroduce fish into the pond. U.S. Game and Fish staff are working with Parks Division staff to identify the types of fish that will be re-stocked into the pond.
