I was listening to the music of Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum today thinking about what I’ll write for this article.

They both grew up in the 60’s.

Tom was more of a rocker and said that he started listening to more and more Folk and American roots music after driving home to Connecticut following the infamous Woodstock Festival of August 1969.

Laurie started listening to the same in high school and college. I read that she really loved the music of the Dillards, the Greenbriar Boys, Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe and Doc Watson.

Happy times with friends, jumping feet, summer time, music, crafts and snacks … is this Vacation Bible School or a fun time with the Craig Martin Jazz Experience Band?

The answer is both … so bring your jumping feet to the White Rock Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m., Saturday June 2 and enjoy the free and informal event.

The Craig Martin Jazz Experience Band will play until 8:30 p.m., and there will be homemade ice cream and other delicious desserts.

Eighteen artists are represented at Karen Wray Fine Art–Gallery and Studio including many well-known in this community such as Secundino Sandoval, Janice Parker Muir, Sheridan Brown and gallery owner Karen Wray herself.

Wray has been providing local artists with a place to show and sell their work in her gallery at 2101 Trinity Dr., Suite B for the past three years.

“We’re celebrating Los Alamos with our own gallery and our own artists,” Wray said, adding that five new artists joined her gallery in April.
