Blue Monday Writing Group Seeks Members

The idea to start the Blue Monday Writing Group grew out of Rebecca LaFave’s desire to gather with other writers to write.

Students Present ‘Merry Wives Of Windsor’

SQUID Inc. presents Merry Wives of Windsor, by William Shakespeare. Fifteen students from the New Mexico School for the Arts come together to bring this rarely performed Shakespeare script to the stage.

The company will stage Merry Wives in an adaptation of the traditional thrust stage style, including keeping the house lights on during the show, and the actors producing all sound effects from off stage.

Los Alamos Arts Council Hosts Oil Painting Raffle

The Los Alamos Arts Council is hosting a raffle to raise funds for the nonprofit organization. The item being raffled is an oil painting by Santa Fe Artist Wendy Higgins. SANTA FE  The New Mexico School for the Arts announces that Los Alamos High School pianist Presley Gao and NMSA violinist Maggie King have received first place in the 2016 Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition for Piano and Strings. 
 
The panel of awardees also included 2nd place winner NMSA cellist Sam Barrett and NMSA violinist Hanna Zercher who received honorable mention. All students are mentored by NMSA teachers: violinist Kerri Lay, cellist Carla Lehmeier-Tatum, and pianist Jacquelyn Helin.
