Beautiful Bowls Available at the March 17 Empty Bowl Event

The 18th annual Empty Bowl event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
For a donation of $10 or more, community members can choose a hand painted bowl and enjoy a delicious soup and bread lunch with live entertainment.
All of the money raised during the Empty Bowl event goes directly to support the work of Self Help, Inc.

When I first visited Hudson’s garage studio he immediately plopped a six-pound lump of clay onto his wheel and leaned into the amorphous blob with his whole body until it took shape. First it became a tall cylinder, and as he coaxed the walls to expand, it became what he called a “rumptious round.”

Beauty in the Beast Opening Reception Featured Unique Perspectives

Friday night’s opening reception drew 150 people to view the Beauty in the Beast show at Fuller Lodge Art Center.
The show revealed the wild side of beauty. It runs through March 31.
Works by local artist Thelma Hahn are on display in the Portal. The Art Center at 2132 Central Ave. is in the historic Fuller Lodge and is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Blue Window Bistro features wine-tasting March 4
The Blue Window Bistro will offer a Wine Tasting featuring the wines of Italy, from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.
Certified Sommelier Ben Niedleman and guest connoisseur Tom Hill will provide information and suggestions on tasting.

Receiving the entries for the Fuller Lodge Art Center’s newest show, “Beauty and the Beast” was similar to awarding homework an A+, Director Ken Nebel said. Every piece made the grade.

The Los Alamos Little Theatre will present “The Giver” by Eric Coble, adapted from the Newbery Medal winning book for young people by Lois Lowry. UNM-Los Alamos is hosting the free film series, “Fairy Tale Thursdays” at 6 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday through May in the UNM-LA Student Center Lecture Hall.
The series will explore the rich tradition of fairy tales in film.
