COMMUNITY NEWS:
Music and art go hand in hand, and this summer the magical combination makes its way to Los Alamos. Fridays throughout the summer, local artist Sasha Scully is offering her popular art classes preceding the Gordon’s concerts. The pre-concert art classes started Friday.
Scully’s SäshaStylz classes will continue throughout the summer 5-7 p.m. at UnQuarked on the first and second Fridays of the month, and on the last Friday of each month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The latter will feature drink and food pairings from Sirphey, selected to compliment the painting’s theme. Kids and families are welcome.
After the class, participants can head over to enjoy the Gordon’s Concert at Ashley Pond. The cost of the class is $35; introductory, teacher appreciation, and couples discounts are available. Advance registration at www.sashascully.com is highly recommended.
In addition, on some Fridays, concert-goers will be able to watch Scully paint live during the concerts. Scully has become known for her live theatrical paintings. She recently performed at the Dr. Zee Benefit concert, during which she created an aspen oil painting that was donated to the live auction. Sasha’s work is very much known for its vibrancy, textures, and she uses synesthesia to create while painting mainly with her hands ambidextrously.
Scully is a local artist, graphic designer, and teacher of SäshaStylz™ art classes and private art parties. Born and raised in New Mexico, she started at an early age painting murals, teaching art classes, doing graphic design work and experimenting with a plethora of mediums. She has shown her artwork in many different galleries, exhibits, juried art shows, and several featured publications, and is known for her live time-lapse videos. In addition, she has also crafted award winning art pieces. Visit www.sashascully.com to view a calendar of events and to sign up for upcoming classes.
