PEEC News:

Local certified arborist Laural Hardin is a popular presenter at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC). She has spoken on several topics related to local tree species and their care in the urban landscape. Hardin returns to PEEC at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 to discuss aspen trees.

Many homeowners have or want to have aspen in their yards. This talk will cover many of the challenges property owners face when aspens are put in the urban setting. Some of the topics to be discussed include aspen disease and pest issues, as well as root systems and expected life spans.

Hardin is a certified arborist and integrated pest management specialist. She specializes in diagnosing and solving tree and garden problems. With an interest in helping people understand the natural balance in the landscape, Hardin teaches how to avoid most issues by learning to see the root cause. She loves to share her knowledge with hands on workshops and fact filled talks, she said.

The cost to attend this program is $8 or $6 for PEEC members.

No advance registration is required. For more information about this and other programs offered by PEEC, visit http://www.pajaritoeec.org/, email Programs@PajaritoEEC.org or call 505.662.0460.
