ANGEL FIRE — Angel Fire Resort, Northern New Mexico’s premier family vacation destination, announced Thursday the introduction of the New Mexico Beat the Heat campaign, a list of family-friendly outdoor activities and free lodging for New Mexican residents who are looking for a quick staycation getaway they can get to by car, which won’t require self-quarantining.

“We know that many people in our state had to cancel their out of state summer vacation plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we thought we’d create a simple, affordable and easily accessible family getaway for those who need a break from working from home and could use some blue skies and wide-open spaces,” Marketing Director Greg Ralph said. “We are an easy drive from every corner of the state. We have a long list of family-friendly outdoor activities and discounts for our residents on lodging. The summer vacation doesn’t have to be canceled, it just has to be redesigned this year.”

Ranked the #1 Bike Park in the southwest for the 7th consecutive year, Angel Fire Resort offers the biggest mountain biking trail system in the Rockies. The park offers beginner and experienced downhill and cross-country trails, as well as bike rentals, lessons, and on-mountain guides. There also is a free-to-use greenbelt trail system that runs throughout the village of Angel Fire.

The Monte Verde lake is stocked with trout and offers fishing equipment rentals. Additionally, there are stand up paddleboards, paddleboats, and canoes available for rent that offer plenty of social distancing while taking a ride across the large lake. Several restaurants in the village offer outdoor patio dining and to-go meals that provide anything a family would need for a picnic at the lake, or in the town’s Olympic Park.

Additionally, with many summer camp sessions canceled this summer, Angel Fire is offering an idea for parents. “Along with tennis lessons, we have a public PGA-ranked 18-hole golf course that offers lessons for both kids and adults. Or if you just want to blow off of some steam at the driving range and then sit on the patio at the Country Club for a drink and some dinner, it’s a great escape from the heat, and offers something for every age in the family,” Ralph adds.

Scenic chairlift rides, hiking, and a summit Zipline Adventure course and disc golf are also open for kids and adults, as well as 1.5 million acres of the Carson National Forest to explore.

Angel Fire Resort is offering the New Mexico Beat the Heat offer which allows all New Mexico residents who purchase two nights of lodging at the hotel will get the third night free. Additionally, guests who stay three nights in a condo or private home will get the fourth night free. The package is available through September 3, 2020. The reservation must be booked 48 hours in advance.

Angel Fire Resort has increased sanitation and the disinfecting process at all of the resort restaurants, lodge, and common areas. Angel Fire Resort adheres to the New Mexico public health orders and requires masks for employees and guests, except while eating.
