Frank G. Frainier Post 90
To the Los Alamos Community, it gives great pleasure in announcing that The American Legion, Frank G. Frainier Post 90 of Los Alamos has successfully supported the Community-based effort in the naming of a submarine, U.S.S. Los Alamos.
Specifically, a resolution drafted by Post 90, has been approved by the Post, District 1, and Department of New Mexico. On Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 9:12 a.m., Resolution #8 passed another major milestone by the National Executive Committee. The National Executive Committee is comprised State Representatives, the current National Staff Officers, and all Past National Commanders.
Having passed the National Executive Committee, it will be brought to the National Membership at the 100th National Convention on or about Aug. 28, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN for adoption. Upon passage, it will be sent to both Congress and the Secretary of the Navy directly by The American Legion National Adjutant, Dan Wheeler.
The passage of this Resolution represents historical significance in multiple ways. It is the first community support resolution by Frank G. Frainier, Post 90. It is also the first Resolution passed by the National Executive Committee on behalf of Frank G. Frainier, Post 90. Most significantly, it is the very first endorsement of any Naval Vessel by The American Legion. When fully passed by the membership in August, this Resolution will represent the backing of the approximately two million veterans of the nation’s oldest and largest, fraternal veteran’s organization – The American Legion for Los Alamos.
The American Legion, Frank G. Frainier Post 90 is proud to be involved and engaged with the U.S.S. Los Alamos Committee and the Los Alamos community to help make this important honor happen for our community. We thank you all for the opportunity to show our support and work with you.
