SANTA FE ― New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas released the following statement Thursday regarding Attorney General Jeff Sessions:
“As a chief law enforcement officer, I take testimony extremely seriously, whether it be in the courtroom or before the United States Senate. There were questions asked about conversations with Russia and that information was omitted by Attorney General Sessions during his testimony.
“Attorney General Sessions needs to promptly address the omission, and he needs to immediately appoint an independent prosecutor to fully review the Trump Administration and Trump campaign ties with Russia as the scope of the problem continues to grow. We must get to the truth on behalf of the American people.”
As an attorney general who has prosecuted public officials for abuse of office, including false or misleading disclosures, I believe that an independent investigation must commence immediately. Anything less would be reckless.”
