Attorney General Hector Balderas

AG News:

ESPANOLA Attorney General Hector Balderas announced a series of financial literacy trainings to be held throughout the state as part of the settlement with Visa and MasterCard, the United States’ two largest payment card networks, over a lawsuit brought by the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General alleging excessive fees charged during credit and debit card transactions.

The Read the Fine Print financial literacy trainings are free and open to the public.

“I’m committed to protecting New Mexico consumers and that means ensuring they have access to the training and educational tools necessary to become informed consumers,” Balderas said. “New Mexico families face many financial dangers, scams, and predatory business practices, so it’s critical our families take advantage of free trainings like our Read the Fine Print financial literacy trainings.”

The Read the Fine Print financial literacy trainings will be focused on financial literacy, including the responsible use of credit and how to protect yourself from scams and identity theft.

Upcoming training:

Española – 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., May 16 at Northern New Mexico College, 921 N Paseo De Onate.
