  • Bill Creates Tax Holiday Saturday After Thanksgiving

SANTA FE – Rep. David Adkins, R-Bernalillo, has filed legislation to encourage New Mexicans to shop at local small businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The legislation eliminates gross receipt taxes for customers who shop at a small business or restaurant with an average revenue that’s less than $1 million per year.

“Our mom and pop stores are the backbone of our economy, and we should try to help them anyway we can,” Adkins said. “This legislation will help encourage more New Mexicans to support their local small businesses.”
