COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit will once again provide free shuttle service to the annual fireworks show Saturday, July 4 at Overlook Park in White rock.

Buses will provide continuous service starting at 4 p.m. from Sullivan Field at Canyon Road and Diamond Drive in Los Alamos and the White Rock Visitor Center on N.M. 4. Immediately following the fireworks show, buses will shuttle attendees back to the two remote parking lots as quickly as possible, until all persons who rode the buses are out of the park. Buses will have priority in traffic after the fireworks show.

“This is a terrific event for the community, and Atomic City Transit is pleased to provide transportation support,” Transit Manager Ken Smithson said. “An event like this is often the first time – perhaps the only time – that individuals are exposed to public transportation, and our intent is to make it a pleasant experience for all.”

Smithson added that the Transit Division has recently accepted delivery of three new 35-foot, heavy duty, low floor transit buses, and the public will see them for the first time at this event.
