Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), the Los Alamos Public Schools’ award winning after-school theater program, is excited to announce auditions for its elementary school production of Disney Lion King Jr., a two-act musical play based on Disney’s family favorite feature film, The Lion King and Julie Taymor’s hit Broadway musical.
Auditions are in the Mountain Elementary School Gymnasium 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. Registration begins at 1 p.m. The auditions are open to all 5th or 6th grade students in the Los Alamos area.
ACCT also is looking for students interested in participating as student directors/choreographers for this show. Mid-school and high school students interested in signing up as a student director/choreographer should plan to stop by the audition after school.
ACCT also offers students the chance to explore other areas of technical theater, such as working lights and sound, helping with makeup and costumes, and helping out backstage during the shows. Students interested in these areas are invited to stop by Wendesday’s audition to meet the directors.
Co-directors Daren Savage and Kelsey Cline are leading the ACCT after-school musical theater program into its eighth year.
Two public performances of Disney Lion King Jr. by the elementary school cast are scheduled for Nov. 20 and 21 at Smith Auditorium. Admission to all ACCT shows is free.
Atomic City Children’s Theater, an official after-school program sponsored by the Los Alamos Public Schools, offers performing opportunities to elementary and middle school age students and is designed to promote academic excellence through participation in the arts.
