SCAS News:

Join more than 200 artists from New Mexico and Southern Colorado, July 28-29, as they share the beauty of their 400-year-old art forms during Traditional Spanish Market.

These best-of-the-best works of art include woodcarvings, tinwork, colchas, hide paintings, bultos, retablos, straw appliqué, furniture and furnishings, weavings, jewelry, filigree, pottery, and ironwork. Skilled artists and craftspeople create these breathtaking expressions of a living tradition and provide a one-stop shop for collectors of all levels.

All adult artists are juried into the event; youth are mentored by current market artists in their categories. In addition, this year’s market honors santero Carlos J. Otero of Los Lunas with a Master’s Award for Lifetime Achievement. Learn more about him on our website.

To complement this immersion into Spanish colonial art, ¡Viva La Cultura! offers a week of experiences around Santa Fe-lecture series, studio tours, music, and more through cooperative activities with other Santa Fe organizations.
