The Los Alamos Heart Council 2015 Health Fair is8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Los Alamos High School Gymnaium.
As in past years, there will be free flu shots available (for those 18 years and older), courtesy of Los Alamos Medical Center and discounted blood tests. Many of the 70 booths at the Health Fair will have free screenings ranging from blood pressure, blood sugar levels and asthma to glaucoma.
This year the Fair will have entire section devoted to family and children’s health. For adults and kids alike, there will be an abundance of information about physician services, fitness, nutrition, health insurance, medications, allergies, chiropractic services, acupuncture, diabetes, natural medicine, emergency preparedness, and information on many other health and wellness topics and the organizations and businesses that serve all ages in our community promoting health, fitness, nutrition, safety and medical services.
Outside the gym will be the Classic Air Medical Helicopter, a booth at the halfway point of this year’s Out of the Darkness for Suicide Prevention, and a pet adoption event by Friends of the Shelter.
In the Family and Children’s Area every child will get a free backpack to fill with goodies and health information. Of course there also will be the kid’s favorite part of the Health Fair – bike helmets! There will be 150 helmets given out on a first come, first serve basis to children accompanied by an adult. Helmets are free courtesy of the Los Alamos Heart Council and proper fittings will be done by the Los Alamos Tuff Riders Mountain Bike Club.
