2021 Dog Jog Race Results Announced

COMMUNITY News:

To celebrate the lovely weather Saturday, about 20 runners and 80 walkers and 90 or so dogs turned out for the 2021 Los Alamos Dog Jog.

This was a COVID-safe event with masks and social distancing, participants and their pets had a good time being outside and socializing.

Los Alamos Dog Jog organizers eliminated the post-race prize ceremony to minimize contact, but there was still dog toys, donated by Pet Pangaea, for every pooch, and gift card prizes for both runners and walkers at the finish line.

The fastest runner on the 5K course was Savanna Strother streaking in at 20:31. The fastest runner with a dog was Whitney Spivey and her running buddy Wheeler, finishing in at 21:36.

Other top finishers were Audrey Juliani with Ella in 28:03, and Lauren Tomko with both stroller and dog making an impressive finish in 49:16.

Fastest male runners with dogs were Michael Salmon and Chester in 28:56, Timothy Gildea and Winston in 29:24, and Wayne Ashcroft and Ripley in 44:44.

Over on the walking course, fun was had by all. Some dogs went formal with bowties to mark the occasion, while others wore fun coats to complement their owner’s colorful attire. Mango, a youthful 18-years old, finished the 2-mile course with his owner Emily Christiansen, who happens to be mom to the 2021 Dog Jog logo designer, Ellen O’Neil.

Dog Jog organizers thank those who sponsored and donated to the event, including titanium sponsors Jeremy Campbell/Ameriprise, Pet Pangaea and Ridgeview Veterinary Hospital as well as platinum sponsors, Blue Window Bistro, Lou Santoro State Farm and Hartway and Breshears, CPA, LLC, and gold sponsors H Bank and Trust and Los Alamos Doghouse.

And a huge thank you to all of the participants who made it fun; they are all appreciated.
