The Los Alamos Relay for Life event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25 at Smith’s Marketplace. The theme for this year’s Relay is “Attacking From Every Angle”.
The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 5K fun run/walk to be followed by opening ceremonies and a survivor lap. The Relay itself is 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Canyon Rim Trail, starting and finishing in the Smith’s Marketplace parking lot.
Plans are underway for the annual Survivor Dinner held the week before the Relay. For more information, call Rachal Allen at 505.709.8618 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Event co-chairs Rachal Allen and Michael Beauchamp are holding planning meetings at 6 p.m. each Tuesday on the patio at Smith’s Marketplace and new volunteers are welcome to join the team. Allen said volunteers can opt to volunteer as little or as much as they choose, but that help is needed for everything from recruiting and individuals to walk in the event to helping out at the actual event.
Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society. It is an event that brings communities together to celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against cancer by raising money and awareness.
